Will we need to make new characters for hard mode, or can we take them back and forth?

Hopefully we can take them back and forth.

<sarcasm>I just love how the news came a full day late from the Community Staff.</end sarcasm>

I think that'd be too hardcore to make it impossible to go back and forth between modes. I'd imagine it as a party setting, or something. I don't know how that'll look on the Interface, though. It seems like the most appropiate place is in the Party window.

If they made it so you couldn't go back in forth between modes, that'd limit you from playing and helping your friends and other people in normal mode. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about, so don't worry.

I agree with the massive skill requirement cost 'specially with heroes.

Gaile really didn't say that much so I can't see how people are getting so excited...

What I'd like to see is random monster skill bars (like 6 or 7 well thought out builds per class put into your foes at random). This, along with random spawns would eliminate cookie cutter builds and force some diversification and make the game harder.

Did I hear 7 heroes?

As long as new skillbars means new skills that we have access to (AKA, no more Enraged), then this should be promising. New drops as well? Should be fun.

First off, I give you all at ANET a big pat on the back for making this adjustment. Its a great move and one that meets the "significant change required in GW" from people I've spoken to. On that note, I do honestly hope that you guys will do something regarding the "mob coding" in missions and quests so that there is some kind of fluctuation in what a party will run into. For example, Anguish is a great challenge BUT it can really only be done with a few cookie-cutter team builds and each mob will use "X" skill coupled with "Y" and "Z." What I mean is, fluctuate the skill sets of mobs so that instead of the first one using alot of degen perhaps it uses energy drain/denial on one go and then another time its a AoE mob. Simply put, if you have a Para in Anguish... well congrats for making it but you are screwed for finding a team. Please avoid this! Thanks

Most of that sounds cool, except for one part.

I am all for working on my treasure hunter title. But afking and spending hundreds of platnum so that I can get lucky title for better drops? NO thank you. So now it's come to the people who have money make more money, which is why I stopped playing other games. Dumb.

I am also intrigued by the Vanquisher title and what that is all about especially after it was under the impression of everyone that the Guardian title would be Masters/M+B for each of the missions in the three campaigns.

With Hard Mode, there should be better drops and such as well from what it sounds like. I'm happy about this. I wonder if you have a character that finishes Nightfall or Factions again but this time in Hard Mode if you will get another Amulet of the Mist/Book of Secrets.

What I am also trying to find out is how they plan on segregating (or if they even are) the Normal Mode people/places from the Hard Mode people/places. I'm not sure if they are gonna do that or if they are just going to mix everyone and force everyone to form groups and "weed out" the normal/hard mode people when they want to do a mission. The whole skill balance thing is going to be very interesting. I hope they have some tricks up their sleeves.

Agreed. Farming some areas to earn money is hard enough as it is. Especially when they constantly nerf the farming areas. Selling items is almost the only way to get cash. No auction house to help get money to earn these crappy titles that require the cash. Poor planning on their part.

You know, I do not agree with everything ANet is doing.

--Begin my rant--

1) The game is increasingly forcing me as a player to take a specific cookie cutter build(s) to beat the bad guys. Specific example - without "Shields Up" in the Morah Mission, you are taking crazy damage and will have that wonderful wipe experience. So, a generic build that would have won in Prophecies will not longer cut it in Factions or Nightfall.
2) The game itself is getting larger and larger in scope, so that it takes more and more time for me to go and get all those needed cookie-cutter skills in every new campaign with not only the characters I had before, but the new ones I make.
I don't understand this at all. You found a mission where there is ONE skill that is needed, and you are complaining because of that, you can only bring cookie cutter skills?

You're also complaining that the game is expanding and getting larger...are you just looking for things to complain about?

So are they going to make the aoe flee for hard mode and on normal mode it will go back to how it was?

Sorry if that was asked already I did not read through all of the posts.

Sigh for the "more PvE skills". Props for the rest, especially the rebalancing of normal play so normal players can play it. I can't wait to enjoy "Fun Mode" and let all the elitists have their hard mode without ruining everyone else's enjoyment of the game. Now I just hope they don't make too much of a dichotomy between them -- such as "hard mode only" heroes, skills (or even worse, skills that work differently in the two), etc. That is, I hope they stick to their goal of time and devotion to the game do not yield you gameplay-affecting perks.

On a reread: boo to the lockpicks. Yet more titles having an effect on game play. I'm still looking for hard mode to be rolled out so I can enjoy the endgame content of fun ("normal") mode once again.

LOL. I think other people are complaining because they were ONLY given a mug....and not a keg. And then the continued to complain when they realized that it was Pabst. Ha ha ha
